A man is in a serious condition in Dunedin Hospital after a crash in Bluff on Saturday night.

Bluff firefighters had to cut the man out of his vehicle when his car crashed in Foreshore Rd, about 9.15pm.

The man was the sole occupant of the car.

The police serious crash unit is investigating, and it is believed speed was a factor in the crash.

On Sunday, a Dunedin Hospital spokesman said the man was in the intensive care unit in a serious condition.
