A reported sighting of a human skeleton on the Stewart Island coastline at the weekend turned out to be a marine mammal, police say.
Invercargill area tactical response manager Inspector Olaf Jensen confirmed yesterday there had been a report of a skeleton at Ruggedy Islands, at the north-western extremity of Stewart Island.
