After reroofing and earthquake-strengthening, the front facade of the WEA building in Invercargill is getting a new paint job.

WEA manager Lesley du Mez said the Esk St building, which had a magnificent history, had been earthquake strengthened, reroofed and fire rated.

The front of the building was being ''touched up.''

Ms du Mez said there were future plans of changing the attic into classroom space.Aurora College Southland education co-ordinator for the community education programme Annette Little said she was thrilled with the work being done at the WEA building.

''It's a lovely building to work in.''
