Nine fire brigade teams from around Otago and Southland competed in the South Otago sub-association volunteer fire brigade competition in Kaitangata this month.
Kaitangata won the competition's four-man section, with Balclutha second and Mataura third. Mossburn won the two-man competition, with Mosgiel second and Mataura third.
Kaitangata Volunteer Fire Brigade chief fire officer Kevin Sutton said the competition was good practise for the Otago-Southland competition in Alexandra next week and the national competition in Cromwell in mid-March.
"We're looking forward to that (Otago-Southland).
"It's going to make an interesting competition."
