A Queenstown pupil has been chosen to represent New Zealand at the Olympics of Learning later this year.
Remarkables Primary School pupil Willem Ebbinge will be one of four ambassadors for New Zealand at the World Education Games this March.
Aucklanders Sebastien Tumahai, of Orakei School, and Izzy Sheild, of Murrays Bay Intermediate, and Cobham Intermediate pupil Alicia Jung, of Christchurch, round out the team of ambassadors, who will represent more than 30,000 schoolchildren competing as the New Zealand School Blacks in the games, known informally as the Olympics of Learning.
The event, which will be held online between March 5 and 7, is held to raise money to fund education for more than 80,000 children in developing countries.
More than 5 million pupils are expected to compete.
