Police have been called to investigate a Te Anau scrub fire believed to have been started by fireworks last night.
Te Anau Voluntary Fire Brigade senior station officer Graeme Moffat said fire crews were called to a patch of scrub on fire along Golf Course Rd, near Te Anau, about 7.45pm.
Firefighters quickly controlled the blaze but noticed fireworks debris at the scene and police had been called to investigate, he said.
A fisherman had earlier spotted a car leaving the area and was able to help police, he said.
