Thousands of people have lined up for this year's Surf to City.

Walkers, runners and cyclists have lined up at Oreti Beach to take part in the annual event, with mild temperatures making for a perfect start.

Entrants make their way from Oreti Beach to Queens Park.

The annual event attracts interest from all walks of life, including families, athletes and businesses.

Cyclist Reini Baer said he was ''very excited'' to be taking part in the event, while runner Cameron Nicholls, of Hedgehope, said this was his third Surf to City.

''I'm doing it for the fun of it,'' he said.
