Invercargill police are appealing for witnesses after a two-car crash at the intersection of Tay St and Queens Dr yesterday afternoon.

Senior Constable Aaron Hogue said the crash happened at 5.30pm where it was believed one of the drivers failed to stop for a red light.

The two sole female drivers in each car were not injured, he said.

A silver Toyota Levin travelling east on Tay Street was hit by purple Ford Festiva that was travelling south on Queens Dr, Mr Hogue said.

He said the two cars impacted and came to a stop in the intersection.

Speed and alcohol were not involved, he said.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash can contact Invercargill police.
