An employee of the White Horse Inn in Milton was robbed yesterday afternoon while taking cash to the bank.
Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Balclutha, said a male accosted the staff member in the car park about 4.15pm.
No weapon was used and an undisclosed amount of cash was forcibly taken, Mr Dinnissen said.
"The victim was uninjured but extremely shaken as a result of the incident."
Police believe the offender left via the rear area of the car park which leads on to Spenser St.
Witnesses described the man as wearing a black hooded sweat shirt with the hood pulled up tight around his face.
