A Korean man who got lost on the Moonlight Track, near Queenstown, spent Saturday night in the bush before being rescued by search and rescue volunteers yesterday morning.
Acting sergeant Brian Fitzgerald said the man set off to climb Bob's Peak and made a wrong turn.
He made his way to the Shotover River yesterday morning where he called across the river to some people on the other side for help.
