Southland company Back Country Cuisine has added a new freeze dri product to its line of goods.
Yesterday 2000 of the Freeze Dri Fruit smooth was packed ready for export to Australia this week.
They will be launched in New Zealand next month.
Back Country Cuisine owner Brent Crossan said the smoothie made from ice cream and fruit was inspired by his children, who liked him to experiment with different kinds of food.
The business has more than 70 products and exports to Australia, South Africa, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong.
Its only competitor is based in the United States.
Construction of the new plant, which will be built on top of and around the existing Otepuni Ave building, Invercargill, is expected to be finished at the end of March.
