Volunteers are out in force, collecting for Plunket.

Today is collection day for the Plunket Bear Hug Appeal which ends on Sunday and volunteers armed with collection buckets in the central business district, and other collectors are going door to door.

All funds raised stay in the community.

Plunket provides support for families with new babies and young children.

Plunket's free home and clinic visits are government funded but they rely on community fundraising to provide services such as parent support groups and playgroups.

People can still donate at plunket.org.nz, by visiting a BNZ branch, or texting HUG to 2454 to make a $3 donation.
