Campervan blown over near Tiwai
Emergency services responded to a campervan that was blown over on Bluff Highway, near Tiwai.
A polices spokeswoman said police were called at 3.40pm to a campervan that had gone off the road and was on its side, she said.
One person was treated for minor injuries.
A fire spokesman said two fire engines were called to the crash.
No one was trapped in the vehicle, he said.
The road was open and no diversions were in place.
Sergeant Geoff Sutherland, of Invercargill, said the campervan had driven up onto the grassy area at the intersection because of the wind, where it was then blown over.
"The wind's come up quite suddenly," he said.
"It appears it's affected their driving."
There were some minor injuries but no one was taken to hospital, he said.
The passengers of the vehicle were visitors from overseas, he said.
A tow truck was called and the passengers were given a ride to Invercargill.
