Ex-Southlander has starter in Dubai World Cup
Former Southlander Maria Ritchie trains Special Fighter, a starter in Saturday's US$10 million (NZ $14million) Dubai World Cup.
Ritchie will be the second woman trainer to have a starter in the prestigious race. Sydney's Gai Waterhouse finished sixth with Juggler in 1997.
Last month Ritchie was granted a trainer's licence in Dubai. She was a jockey in Southland during the 1980-90s.
