An unemployed Dunedin man has been arrested and charged in connection with two burglaries in Invercargill at the weekend.
Police said 49-year-old man was charged in relation with the Southland Hotel and Newfield Hotel burglaries.
The man has also be charged with a number of other offences, which were committed in Dunedin during the recent weeks.
Detective sergeant Stu Harvey, of Invercargill, said police were ''very pleased'' the man had been apprehended so quickly.
He believed it would alleviate anxiety in the business community following the two burglaries at the taverns.
However, he stressed that it was still important businesses remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to police.
