Shield does tour of Central towns
People from throughout Central Otago got a hands-on experience of the Ranfurly Shield yesterday, when the Otago Rugby Union toured the Log o' Wood through Wanaka, Arrowtown, Queenstown, Cromwell and Alexandra, allowing team fans photo opportunities.
Although the shield was on a tight travel schedule to make it to all the towns, it acquired an hour's lag after being mobbed by fans early on in the day.
When it arrived at Queenstown's Speight's Ale House, a knot of about 50 people lined up for photos.
