Fundraiser to include questions and artworks
The East Gore Art Centre will be another step closer to completion with the help of a fundraising quiz night.
The Eastern Southland Gallery is launching into its next fundraiser, an art auction and quiz night, to help complete stage three of the East Gore Art Centre.
Eastern Southland Gallery programmes officer Marcella Geddes said the event, to be held on September 6, would combine the fun of a quiz night with an auction of art, wine and books.
"It's going to be a fun night for everyone."
Tickets were selling well but there was still time for people to register their interest, Ms Geddes said.
With 12 works by some of the big names in contemporary New Zealand art up for auction, art lovers and collectors would have a chance to grab something really special and, because there were no reserves, they could pick them up for a bargain price, she said.
Most of the works up for auction were lithographs and were donated by either the artists themselves or by Muka Studio in Auckland.
The art centre project was an exciting development for Southland and it was hoped the centre would be one of regional and national significance, she said.
"With only painting, flooring, lighting and internal fixtures and fittings to be done, this is a last push to complete Stage 3."
The quiz will be held on Friday, September 6 at 7.30pm at the Heartland Hotel Croydon in Gore.
Tickets cost $20 per person and are available from the Eastern Southland Gallery.
The ticket price covers some refreshments and a donation to the project.
There was a maximum of five people per table, and a cash bar would be available.
