Central Otago police are disappointed two licensed premises in the region failed a controlled sting on Friday night and served alcohol to minors.
Sergeant Derek Ealson, of Alexandra, said six premises were targeted, and two served two 17-year-olds alcohol.
"It was disappointing to see the premises failed to meet the requirements of the sale of liquor act," he said.
One of the establishments checked the minors' identification but still served them.
