LATEST: A rugby player taken by helicopter to Dunedin after an incident in a rugby match is in a stable condition today.
Southland Country rugby centre Logan Moore was taken to Dunedin hospital last night, with a serious head injury.
The incident happened during the game, meaning the match against Canterbury Country in Mossburn had to be called off.
Coach Jeff Clearwater said Moore suffered the injury 10 minutes into the second half of the game.
A Southland Ambulance team leader said a helicopter arrived just after 9pm to fly Moore to either Dunedin or Southland Hospital, depending on his status.
The game was called off with Canterbury Country leading 17-7.
