Early bird tickets to the Alexandra Blossom Festival Saturday in the Park have gone on sale and a record number of market stalls have signed on for this year’s event.

Event organiser Martin McPherson said early-bird tickets can be bought from selected banks, service stations and dairies from around Alexandra and will be on sale until September 27, the day before the event.

A record number of craft markets, food, beverage and trade stalls have signed up for a market-day presence, with more than 180 stalls getting involved this year, Mr McPherson said. Last year there were about 130 stalls.

This year’s entertainment at the event will include the Sequin Sisters, the Queenstown Jazz Orchestra, the BeThere Bicycle Band, New Zealand’s crazy aerobics, sports and circus fanatic Sport Suzie, and aerialist Jane Mieke.

As well as family entertainment, carnival rides and stalls, those wanting to vote for their favourite float from the Grand Procession for the Best Float Competition can do so at Saturday in the Park.

Organisers were continuing their free ride tickets for Central Otago school students, and 2600 tickets have been sent to schools across the district.
