Schools perform Glee-ful song and dance
Popular songs from hit television show Glee were heard at the Civic Theatre as this year's ILT Invercargill Schools' Sing Out came to an end.
The 70th Sing Out finished last night after three nights of singing and dancing. Songs performed included We Are Young,Somebody To Love and Landslide.
Convener Kerry Hawkins said the performers and audience enjoyed this year's theme: Gleek Out.
"You can hear how much they enjoyed it." Sing Out gave children the opportunity to sing and dance on stage with live musicians, he said.
The standard had been high this year, Mr Hawkins said.
For some of the children it was their first and often only experience of being on stage. There were also several returning students from previous years, he said.
Sing Out, which was as popular as it had always been, involved 20 schools and about 650 students.
