Central Otago police officers enjoyed an almost trouble-free Alexandra Blossom Festival weekend, with just five people arrested during the two days.
This was well down on last year when 24 were arrested, and significantly down on 2009 (80 arrests) and 2010 (79 arrests).
Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk, of Alexandra, said the focus had been on a highly visible police presence that aimed to prevent trouble and resolve problems quickly.
A 15-year-old Ranfurly youth has been charged with unlawfully taking a car, with the other arrests for minor offending, Mr Kerrisk said.
There was a strong police presence on roads in the area, with four people processed for drink driving in Central Otago.
