Season of growth celebrated in art
The variety and vitality of spring is reflected in a seasonal exhibition at the Anderson Park Art Gallery.
The Spring Exhibition, featuring more than 170 works, will be launched tonight and opens its doors to the public tomorrow.
Gallery manager Stephen Davies said the exhibition would showcase a range of art forms, from photography to sculpture and ceramics.
"There's something for everyone - a variety of work. Some work is challenging, some work is more decorative."
The exhibition even boasted a ceramic ship, as part of an "intriguing" diorama by artist Robert Rapson, he said.
A selection panel had whittled down more than 200 submissions to the final show, which included the work of five guest artists from across the country.
Invercargill artist Patricia Murdoch was selected as one of the guest artists this year.
The exhibition runs until October 28.
