The Spirit of a Nation sales challenge is all about putting the fun – and funds – into fundraising.
The contest is being organised by Gerry Forde of Venture Southland and is open to any fundraising group, which must sell as many of the desk and wall calendars as they can over a week.
Mr Forde said that last year, the groups had only an hour to sell the calendars and made more than $20,000.
Community groups are being encouraged to team up with businesses to boost sales numbers.
''The contest is about helping volunteer groups with their fundraising and getting them to work with other businesses that are good at selling. It's also good to have a bit of fun and competition,'' Mr Forde said.
One real estate agent sold about 300 calendars in an hour last year.
The selling week will be between October 31 to November 6.
