Firefighters assisted Winton residents in clearing their home of smoke in the early hours of Friday morning.

A Winton home which filled with smoke is safe and no-one is injured after the fire service was called out about 5.30am.

A fire service spokesman said firefighters were called to the Great North Rd home after reports of the building being filled with smoke.

Upon arrival, crews found the fire was out, but assisted the occupants in clearing the house.

There were no reports of injury, the spokesman said.
