Southland Rhododendron Group president Dianne Hamlin and event organising committee member Beverley Brookland with some blooms at the 20th Gore Rhododendron Festival at the Gore Public Gardens. Mrs Brookland, who started the festival 20 years ago, said the event had slowly got bigger, with more stalls and visitors.
The event at the weekend was "one of the biggest" with 70-plus stalls and a large crowd, she said. The park was filled with gardening, craft and food stalls as well as children's entertainment.
Mrs Hamlin said this year's event included guest speakers who spoke about gardening, to celebrate the 20th anniversary.
The aim of the event was to promote rhododendrons and use the gardens, she said.
