Dennis re-elected ILT president
The Invercargill Licensing Trust held the first meeting of its new board last night, with Alan Dennis re-elected as trust president.
Mr Dennis was nominated by Mike Mika, who polled highest in the election.
Mr Dennis thanked the board for their confidence in him and said he was thrilled to be president again.
Mr Mika was re-elected deputy.
Remuneration for the president was discussed by the board.
The sale of Liquor Act regulations permit the trust to fix remuneration of the president at or below a maximum sum fixed by the minister of finance after consultation with the minister of justice.
The trust had used a State Services Commission guide to calculate the figure, which had been set at $31,000 since November 2004.
Trust general manager Greg Mulvey said the board had been trying to set in stone what it should be and recommended it stay at the same rate until the trust solicitor had finished his review of another licensing trust.
The solicitor would also have discussions with the Department of Justice and State Services Commission to clarify ambiguous aspects of the historical calculation, he said
The board would review remuneration in January.
