Forklift hits bridge
An Invercargill distribution company is conducting an investigation after one of its trucks carrying a forklift hit the railway bridge overpass on Rockdale Rd.
The forklift was too high for the bridge and was knocked off the truck today.
McNeill Invercargill distribution manager Blair Keelty confirmed one of its trucks was involved in an incident in Rockdale Rd and an investigation was under way.
Smith Crane & Construction was called to help get the forklift back on to the McNeill truck.
A Smith Crane & Construction staff member said a crane was used to clear the forklift from the road with traffic diverted during the operation.
It appeared the McNeill driver had not taken the route beneath the Rockdale Rd railway bridge with a tall load before, he said.
Acting senior sergeant Fred Shandley, of Invercargill police, said he did not have any information on the incident.
