A truck crash in Balclutha has brought down power lines and spilled scrap metal across a road.
The rear trailer of the double-trailer truck tipped on its side as it headed north up a hill shortly after crossing the Clutha River bridge.
The compacted metal that was in the trailer of the D T King unit was spread across the bottom Cromer St.
Power is out in nearby houses and powerlines landing on the roof of one house. The owner was alone at the time and said she was thankful her children were not home.
She was staying outside until it was safe to go back in. She said she heard a "a massive, massive bang and saw smoke and dust and stuff".
Emergency services are at the scene and the metal is being cleared.
