Smith to meet Fiordland monorail group
Conservation Minister Nick Smith will meet with developers of the proposed Fiordland Link Experience next week.
Dr Smith's press secretary Rachel Bruce said the minister would be in Te Anau on Wednesday to meet with representatives from Riverstone Holdings Ltd, the company behind the monorail proposal.
It would be similar to his meeting with the applicants for the Milford Dart Tunnel, she said.
In June, Dr Smith visited the Mt Aspiring and Fiordland national parks and met with the applicants before deciding whether or not to approve the Milford Dart Tunnel, Ms Bruce said.
The minister rejected the proposal in July.
However, there was no immediate decision on the horizon for the monorail.
"The minister has indicated he will not make a decision until the end of the year or early next year."
Following his meeting with representatives from Riverstone Holdings Ltd Dr Smith would be putting on his tramping boots to take part in the Milford Track 125 years heritage walk.
