A record $16,500 was raised in Southland for the Pink Ribbon collection this month.
The money is used to support women and men with breast cancer and also goes towards breast awareness education.
Appeal co-ordinator Lesley Soper said the organisation was overwhelmed by the generosity of Southland people.
Collectors had been stationed in Invercargill, Winton, Gore and Stewart Island.
Many donors said that they knew someone who had been affected by breast cancer.
