Police have named the two men killed in a truck and trailer crash in West Otago this afternoon.
They are Murray Wayne Brenssell (known as Wayne), 64, and Toby Tiemi Waitokia , 55, both from the Tapanui area.
Police would not say which company the truck belonged to tonight.
Emergency services were called to the single vehicle crash involving the truck and trailer unit on State Highway 90 about 5km south of Waikoikoi about 1.30pm.
Acting control manager Fred Shandley, of Invercargill Police, said a scene examination was being completed by serious crash investigators assisted by the New Zealand Transport Agency and Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit staff.
Police had earlier confirmed the truck and trailer had overturned with two people inside it. Details of how the truck overturned were not available.
There were several heavy-duty appliances assisting with the recovery of the vehicle, he said.
Police were appealing for any witnesses to the crash or anybody who may have seen the white truck and trailer before the crash to contact them.
