Balclutha police have today arrested two men in relation to the burglary at a Kaka Point house on Sunday night.
A 19-year-old Kaka Point male and a 33-year-old man from Inch Clutha are expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court today.
A 65-year-old victim, Pamela Paterson, remains in Dunedin Hospital in a stable condition.
Detective Sergeant Kate Bartlett, of Balclutha Police, said police appreciated information from the public but were keen to hear from anyone who might have information that would assist relating to the evening when the two men allegedly entered Mrs Paterson's home and assaulted her.
Two neighbours, aged 55 and 65, who tried to intervene were also allegedly assaulted before the offenders made their getaway.
Clutha District Mayor Mr Cadogan yesterday described the incident as disgusting and said it was distressing for the whole district.
He extended his sympathies to the victim and her family.
Police said nothing was taken during the alleged invasion.
