The Southland District Council's annual summer holiday programme to keep children entertained has arrived.
Venture Southland is delivering the event on behalf of the Southland District Council and will visit most rural communities in the region.
Venture Southland event co-ordinator Laura Russell said about 500 children attended the programme over three weeks last year and organisers were expecting another big turnout this year.
During the three weeks the programme will be visiting 10 Southland district areas, with free transport provided from many other locations.
A wide variety of activities are on offer.
These include outdoor games, arts and crafts chalk art, murals, loads of games, the popular parachute game and even the famous Kidzone Green Machines.
The cost per child aged 5 and above is $6 and the programmes run from 10am to 3pm in each town visited.
Children under 5 can also join the action but parental supervision is required.
Children have to be registered to take part and forms are available from all Southland District Council offices and the Southland i-Site.
