Climber rescued near Gertrude Saddle

A climber has been rescued from Gertrude Saddle this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Homer Tunnel at 1.40pm today after reports that the climber had fallen.

An ambulance communications spokesperson said the man was retrieved by a helicopter and flown to Southland Hospital in Invercargill about 4.30pm.

He had minor to moderate injuries, they said.
