The Gore District Council has introduced its first water restrictions for the summer after the weekend rainfall failed to fill water supply wells.
The restrictions mean residents can run unattended hoses, sprinklers, garden irrigation systems and handheld hoses between 7pm and 9am on alternate days.
3 Waters Asset manager Sarah Dowling said water levels at Cooper's Well and Jacobstown were lower than at the same time last year. Pumping of water from the Mataura River to the Jacobstown well had already been started by the council.
