A burning caravan set alight the garage it was parked next to in Eastern Southland, a fire service spokesman says.
Firefighters were called to a fire on the Gore-Mataura Highway just before 3am yesterday.
The caravan was well ablaze when fire engines arrived, with flames spreading to a nearby garage, the spokesman said.
Crews were able to extinguish both fires, and no-one was inside the van at the time.
It was unclear how the blaze had started, he said.
Meanwhile, emergency services were called to Murral Creek, near Milford Sound, on Saturday, after a car rolled over a bank.
Milford Rural Fire arrived to find the passengers had already climbed out of the vehicle and were uninjured.
