Invercargill police are still looking for firebugs responsible for two arson attacks on Christmas Day.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Bowman, of Invercargill CIB, said the investigation into the suspicious fires at a family home in Tay St and a home undergoing renovations in Crinan St were continuing.

He said police were appealing to members of the public who may have information about the fires.

"These offenders may be talking to their friends or family about their actions," he said.

The arsonists had targeted the home of a mother and her children on Christmas Day which was low, he said.

Anyone with information should contact Invercargill police on (03) 2110400.
