A motorcyclist escaped serious injury after colliding head-on with a utility vehicle in Central Otago this afternoon.
Central Otago sub area supervisor Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said emergency services attended the crash on Timaburn Rd in Millers Flat after the motorcyclist - a 23-year-old Winton man - and the ute crashed on a corner at 12.12pm.
''The man was air lifted to Dunedin hospital with moderate injuries including a broken leg and injuries to his chest. His injuries are not life threatening. The driver of the utility was uninjured.''
Inquires were continuing but it appeared one of the vehicles crossed onto the incorrect side of the gravel road, Mr Kerrisk said.
Speed and alcohol were not thought to be factors in the crash.
