Child dies in quad bike accident
A six-year-old has died after a quad bike accident on a Southland farm.
The child was rushed to Southland Hospital after emergency services were called to the farm on the Wallacetown-Lorneville highway about 6pm tonight.
An ambulance communications spokesperson said the child had died.
Southern police communications spokesman Peter Hegarty said emergency services attended the scene.
Kingswell station officer Colin Russell said two fire trucks attended the scene for their "rescue capabilities".
Police were investigating the incident, he said.
He would not elaborate on the situation further.
