A three-month-old baby is in a critical condition after a fall in Riverton last night and police are now investigating.

The three-month old boy was flown from Southland Hospital to Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, after suffering serious injuries following a reported fall at her home.

Emergency services were called to a house in Riverton about 7.25pm yesterday, after reports that a baby had suffered serious injuries and was unresponsive.

He was taken to Southland Hospital before being stabilised and transferred to Starship.

Police say their investigation into the incident is in its early stages and it's too soon to provide further details.

The baby's condition remains critical.
