Pub set for sale
The Bottom Pub in Winton is up for sale via mortgagee tender.
Westpac has put the hotel up for sale and Southland Real Estate agent Michael Matheson is the listing agent.
The property was operating with two women leasing it, he said.
According to the Companies Office, Russell and Karen Drake were the two directors and two shareholders of the Winton Hotel (2002).
A notice on the Companies Office website says the company had stopped trading and initiated action to remove the company from the register.
In October, former leasee, Bridle Path Hospitality director Nicholas Evans, closed the pub.
In a public notice he said it was with sadness and frustration he was ceasing to operate the hotel.
The notice said the lessor/registered proprietor was no longer in legal possession of the Winton Hotel and negotiations with the mortgagee to secure a way forward had been unsuccessful.
According to the Southland District Council, the hotel at 218 Great North Rd, has a Rateable Value (RV) of $400,000 and annual rates were $6082.83.
The Southland Real Estate property listing for the ''historical'' pub says there is a land area of 888sqm and a floor area 970sqm.
There was a Government Valuation (GV) of $400,000.
The land and buildings, subject to a monthly tenancy, and chattels, subject to conditions, were for sale, the listing says.
Business opportunities included bar sales, bottle store, restaurant and upstairs accommodation.
Tenders close on February 14
