Former Central Otago mayor Malcolm Macpherson is the new chairman of the Central Lakes Trust.
He replaces Sir Eion Edgar, who retired after serving the maximum nine years in the role.
Dr Macpherson was mayor from 2001 until 2010 and has been a trustee on the Central Lakes Trust since. He has previously been an elected member of the Southern District Health Board, the Otago Polytechnic Council and the Otago Community Hospice Trust. He is a member of the Roxburgh Gorge Trail Charitable Trust, chairs the Jolendale Park Charitable Trust and the board of Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery.
He has a PhD in geology and is one of only two New Zealand-resident US-trained Baldrige Examiners, having more than 20 years' experience in business excellence assessment and consulting. The deputy chairman is Alex Huffadine.
