Another Otago gambler has pocketed a six-figure win at the TAB over the weekend.
A Mosgiel man placed a $10 Triple Trio Easybet on the Wellington Cup meeting and won $100,000 on Saturday.
He was following 73-year-old Len Glassford's lead, who placed the same bet down the road in Milton the previous Saturday and won $300,000.
The Triple Trio bet challenges punters to pick the first three horses across the line in the last three races of a selected race meeting.
The bet type was particularly difficult to pick on your own, so both men had placed what is called an Easybet, in which case the TAB computer randomly picked the horses for them.
A further 16 Triple Trio Easybets picked up more than $1000 from the concession dividend.
The concession was paid if the first two races were picked correctly but not the last.
Twelve of these copied Glassford and took the $10 option.
TAB executive general manager Glenn Patrick said it was astonishing two people who lived so close together had won six-figure prizes in consecutive weeks.
Despite the huge success of Easybets, Saturday's results showed people could also pick winning horses to win on Triple Trio, Patrick said.
"One punter picked his own horses to win a concession dividend and a number of people picked their own horse the week before."
