A woman was cut from her car tonight after it overturned down a bank in Queenstown.

She suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Lakes District Hospital, ambulance staff said.

Southern District Deployment Co-ordinator Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said she was the only person in the car.

‘‘The female had to be extracted from the car and is being treated by ambulance personnel .’’

The crash happened off Wynyard Crescent in the Fernhill area at 10.20pm.

The car was down a bank on its side and had since been stabilised.

A bystander said it looked like the car had gone up the hill and then through bushes and down the bank.
