Laying back and enjoying the summer sounds
Thousands of revellers enjoyed the sun and danced to New Zealand music heavyweights at the 10th Rippon Festival in Wanaka on Saturday.
This year's lineup included HomeBrew, Fat Freddy's Drop, The Phoenix Foundation, Ladi6 and Die! Die! Die! as well as several other well-known artists.
Festival director Lynne Christie said "it was a really great feeling for the artists. Fat Freddy's Drop definitely got everyone up dancing and Phoenix Foundation did a fantastic set".
Summer made its usual appearance at the festival with many escaping the heat under a sea of umbrellas and making the most of a drizzle dome, hydro fan and water slide to cool off.
Tickets almost sold out, with just under 4000 people attending the festival, Ms Christie said.
Many spent the afternoon sitting down and enjoying the music and view before the festival peaked at sundown and crowds packed the dance floor.
Ms Christie said the festival crew would meet to assess the success of the festival, balance the books and check "energy levels and mental heath" before deciding whether to host another festival in 2016. The festival first kicked off in 1997.
