A man had to be rescued by firefighters after he fell into a creek near Waikaia.
A fire communications spokesman said emergency services were called after the man slipped off the road into a creek near a bridge in Winding Creek Rd about 2.30pm yesterday.
The man was not in his car at the time, he said.
Firefighters pulled the man out of the creek and waited with him until a helicopter arrived to transport him to hospital, the spokesman said.
A St John Ambulance communications spokeswoman said the man was transported to Dunedin Hospital with moderate hip injuries just after 4pm.
