Thousands of people are expected to take part in this year's BNZ Surf to City event, hitting the roadway to run, walk or cycle their way from Oreti Beach to Queens Park.

Participants have a choice of either a 12km or 6km course. A 2km fun run option for youngsters and families is also available.

Sport Southland communications and marketing manager Jerrie Valli said entries were flooding in. "They are coming in quickly now, especially with the good weather," she said.

The event starts at 9.30am. Entry costs $10 for adults, $5 for children or $20 for families. The 2km option is free.
