It's not uncommon to let loose and take a load off while on holiday.

A group of retiree Australian tourists travelling the South Island took a lot more off and indulged in some organised skinny dipping.

Southern Naturally, a Riverton-based naturist club, hosted a group of 14 Australian naturists on a tour of the South Island.

While in Riverton, the group took the time to go on a coastal walk and get in some skinny dipping.

The tour, organised by Nelson-based naturist Rod Pegg of Skinnydip Tours, takes in all the sights of the South Island but caters to those in the naturist lifestyle.

Southern Naturally communications officer Bevan Tait said the club often get tour groups stopping by.
