Police are appealing for information after a serious assault in Gore last night.
A man was flown to Dunedin hospital with head injuries following the alleged assault.
Sergeant Greg Ballantyne said the man was initially taken to Gore Hospital but later flown to Dunedin.
The incident happened in the area of Hamilton and Oxford streets about 10pm. Police and were called to a report of several people fighting with weapons.
It is believed that the incident has started in the Lawrence Street area before progressing to Hamilton St.
Police believe the two groups of people involved are known to each other.
Inquiries are continuing and anyone with information should contact Gore police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
